A rather delayed Happy New Year

A very Happy New Year to all of my reader, (it is meant to be singular)
Not that it seems there are too many people hanging on my every word!
I know now what every "would be" author feels like. Write a story, good or bad, and nobody reads it. Still it keeps me off the streets these dark and dismal evenings.
There will be some good phtos in the next entry, I have been going through my wildlife portfolio.
The videos are better but cant get them on here!

You're back! Was that singular reader me I wonder? I've been on holiday myself - Spain as it happens. Worst few weeks of my life.

Anyway I'm surprised you haven't cottoned on to that story I saw on the Hundred Houses site a few days ago. The one about Cambridge County Council setting their next budget and how they've got to cut schooling or roadworks or help for the elderly. Apparently it's the Government's fault but then isn't everything?

You should check it out. I'd be intrigued to know your thoughts.

This government have been off-loading since they crawled out of the gutter.
Remember when they off- loaded the Bank of England?
If anything went awry with the banking side of the economy it's not their fault
They off-loaded speed cameras to partnerships, traffic wardens to private companies and on and on . It's not their fault!
I haven't read the artical yet but I'll do that next.
It seems as if you could be that one person as I get very few comments apart from yours. I thing people are to shy or that I can find out who they are, which I cant.

It's funny the way things are spun by different interested parties - the Bank of England was given independence (different to off-loading it) while the speed-cameras and traffic wardens were privatised, once the dirtiest of all dirty words to Labour.

I'm curious about whether there was any serious mismanagemnt by Cambridge County Council that has lead to the massive shortfall in investment and the need to cut services - especially in light of the CEN story the other day about South Cambs Council.

Regarding the lack of comments - I'd agree with one of your earlier contributors (Joel?). I look at various blogs and I see some of the same people posting on different blogs about similar subjects. You should check out other Cambridge blogs and comment. Also he's right when he said you got the most comments for your post about the microchips in bins - it was an interesting local story so people commented.

Anyway, just because people aren't writing doesn't mean they aren't reading. So chin up and remember - good, interesting content will get a response.

P.s. Joel said he was going to put a 'blogroll' on the page - you should get him to do that if you can.

I some times wonder why we bother with so many different councils in just one relatively small area.
I did see the CCC proposals,
but just put it down to the usual local government accumulated cock-ups.
All of them out to prove that they are better than each other. South Cambs shot themselves in the foot years ago by setting a very low tax rate and trying to pay for everything from their reserves. Having worked out that that did not work, they tried to increase the council tax and big brother stopped them.
Oh dear, what a pity, never mind.
Lets just cut all our services people won't notice!
