I guess that the summer has come to an end, rain, strong winds (not baked bean variety) yellow grass, dead plants, Oh happy days!
Even the birds seem to be sulking, but I did see a Red Headed woodpecker in the garden the other day. I knew there were some in Chesterton but I had never seen one, although I have heard them banging away in the distance.

Had no idea we had red headed woodpeckers in Chesterton. Not managed to see one nor hear it. Is the woodpecker still visiting your garden?
Only ever seen it the once! and that was pure chance. We have a plastic one in the tree and he might have thought his luck was in???
I would of been glad just seeing it once. As for woodpecker - has it returned to try its luck again? that is, the real red headed woodpecker :-)guess thats obvious though as I imagine your 'plastic' birdie is 'static' and her wings well and truly clipped ;-)
